Stay dry fly rugs

Do they really keep them dry and (more importantly) clean?
With Wig doing his rehab, I need to ride him consistently. With darker nights, rain, a wallower and a full time job, I need to maximise riding time and minimise drying/brushing time. He’s sweating in his 0g. If I clip him now, I’ll have to do it again in about 3 weeks.

A stray dry fly rug seems to be a good compromise but do they actually do the job? And which ones are good? PE is my go to but they’re sold out.
 
What size do you need?

They are pretty good in my experience. the waterproof layer keeps the back dry. When it's sideways rain, of course the sides get wet, and the parts covered in the mesh can get wet if the horse lies down on wet ground.
 
Yes the waterproof back does keep the back dry, I have a swish one i think , got it as a summer fly /stay dry rug but was too warm over summer
 
i have a ponyo one, and a shires one - shires is more of a turnout with a mesh strip on the bottom, whilst the ponyo one is a panel over the back. both of them have kept them bone dry underneath!

6’9” I might possibly get away with a 6’6” if they run big. Thanks. As long as saddle area is cleanish and dry, that’s all I want

What size are you after? Equiflair have some
 
I have a Weatherbeeta waterproof fly rug, it has the waterproof area covering the back and hind quarters. I thought about one for years before I bought it and it's been one of the most useful rugs I've got. I tend to use it in Spring when he's fully clipped and he'd get too warm in a 50g or no fill but he still needs his back and hind quarters protected from the rain. His back has always been dry under it.
 
The horse ware amigo ones are very good apparently a well known influencer who’s horses are out are bone dry underneath the waterproof section even after heavy rain (she has shown them several times)
