Hunting down the secret manifesto
Published Date: 20 April 2009
"It seems the sad old Tories are about to make a surprise attack at gaining No 10 again.
And their secret weapon? Why, Edward Garnier, Shadow Justice Minister. And the grand plan? It seems Mr Garnier deems the hunting ban which came into force in February 2005 was unfair and inept (still sticking to his party's own description).
He went on: "I have every right and every intention of addressing the issue. I am determined the opportunity should arise in which Parliament can repeal the Hunting Act."
A party source said his plan would not be in their manifesto but this does not rule out a Tory Government backing a bill to repeal the Act. Staying true to double-talking and double-dealing then.
So there we have it folks, the Tories have just revealed one of their priorities in their blank-paged manifesto against the greatest recession since the 1929/30 Wall Street crash - they'll be seen not to enter it into their main stream political agenda, but when the time comes around they will ensure that such a bill will be stealthily inserted. You just know instinctively that your heart and feelings (and those of a certain animal) are safe in their hands, don't you?
