It is if the horse has a decent tail, cut it from underneath in the middle at the bone maybe in more than one spot and it won't be noticeable. If it's a thin weedy tail forget it.
Make sure you know your friend wouldn't freak though, I know of one person that had this done for her as a surprise and she flipped her lid someone took some tail.
Ha ha! She's almost a traddy cob with the amount of tail & feather hair! And friend would be over the moon I think with something she can always have of her horse I will clear it with her mother first though just to be sure, I know my mum would go spare if I did it to her horse ha ha!

Well, I wouldn't react positively and I HAVE a life - but my closest friends know well that I won't take lightly anyone doing anything, even if it is a minor thing, to my horse without my consensus. You really do have to know a person well to be safe that this wouldn't be considered rude and intruding, in a way, in her personal space.
