We have recently purchased a blue and white cob -when we went to try him he was gleaming white and the owner said he had been 'steam cleaned'...I assumed he was joking as surely steam would burn a horse?

However since we have bought the horse home have not been able to reproduce the dazzling white, and just wondered if they really had?

I have had a quick google but can't find any horse steam cleaners.

Anyone?

No don't use a steam cleaner! Maybe they meant using a hot cloth (not too hot!) to wipe him over with. It really lifts the dirt and works wonders on my grey but best after he's been clipped and isn't too hairy.

I often joke about jet washing the cob at a garage, so guess the previous owners were joking. Having burnt myself accidentally with a steam cleaner, I can vouch for how much it hurts.

Agree with Nicnac, they probably meant hot clothing.

Don't panic - I wasn't really going to have a go, and am hoping it was just a tongue in cheek comment.....!?

Off to research whitening shampoos, suspect it is going to be an expensive winter!

I use the pressure washer on my grey boy, just with a nozzle that won't pierce holes in him :) it's a nozzle that has a 'wider' spray. Amazing how clean he comes us as he is a grime monster !

We even got a comment in our last dressage test of 'Beautifully turned out horse' if only she had seen the state of him he previous day !
