steaming hay

how long can you keep feeding hay that has been steamed, i am steaming a bucket just now to feed overnight if there is some left over is it ok to give it to him tomorrow night, seems a waste to throw it out

All our horses at work have steamed hay, if there is any leftover we have to throw as its similar to wet that has been left it starts to smell musty pretty quick espeacailly in this warm weather, just make up what you need and feed it straight away so theres no wastage. You may find your horse wouldnt eat it anyway, unless youve got a piggy!!
