With all the posts regarding what stallions etc, and the fact I have spoken about Stedinger a few times, thought I would do a little update on our lovely Stedinger filly (who lost her eye last Feb due to an accident).

We turned her and her "partner in crime" out today into our sand arena for a bit of a play. Her partner "joined at the hip" is our Heartbreaker filly. The pictures again were not outstanding, but it shows them a wee bit....

This is the Stedinger filly, who is out a Prince Thatch x Wenzel I mare. This filly has super movement and a gorgeous head, I would definately rate Stedinger very highly as a sire.

This is Corina, her woolly partner in crime.. I say this because the two of them are a very cheeky pair..

And the terrible due together....

Would also recommend Heartbreaker as a sire obviously, but they are lively..

. The Heartbreaker filly is out of a Holland x Cezaro x Pilot mare. Would say that if using Heartbreaker you need to put him onto a HUGE mare, as the dam of the Heartbreaker is a good 16.3hh and I dont think Corina is going to be massively big, but you never know. But she definately has a great aptitude for jumping already.

Love them both, as they have super temperaments and characters, although Sugababe is a little unsure still of people after all her hospital visits last year.

Hopefully they are our new breeding recruits in two years time..

Two gorgeous foals! I know what you mean about Heartbreaker offspring, I ride a 4 year old by him who is mega talented (is so athletic and has the most amazing jump, he gives a fantastic feel over a fence) but is an absolute brat! He was very difficult to break and is very likely to stand on his back legs if he doesn't want to do anything and he bucks as well as he jumps!! He's a great character in the stable though and is pretty small aswell, just 16 hands.

The Stedinger does it for me too, but then I do love his foals. He's 2nd choice for Dee this year.
I think he's worked well on the TB blood in the bottok half of her pedigree and my mare has a TB grandsire too.
How tall do you think Sugarbabe will mature?

Love the Stedinger filly. Would def consider using him on one of my mares next year as I think he would complement either of them well and he really seems to improve on movement.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. They are all woolly and fluffy looking just now..

Well Sugababes dam is only around 16hh, and dont think Suga is going to be overly huge, maybe 16.1 (maybe she will surprise us). She was a Feb foal and her and Corina are much and such the same size almost, and there are 3 months difference in age.

Volatis I think he does work well on lighter model mares, and I would definately try Pussycat onto him again. She is in foal to Rotspon this year, so will be interesting to see the difference, as he is not such a big stallion, only 16.2hh.

Wow ! They're both lovely foals. I'm especially taken by the Stedinger filly.
I've just had a quick google for Stedinger himself and he looks fantastic ... where does he stand? I've seen a few places offering AI for him but where is he actually based?

They are both lovely. The heartbreaker filly looks like my old horse, also by heartbreaker.

I know what you mean about Heartbreaker, i used to own a gelding by him, and he was amazingly talented but would refused to do something if he didnt want to play ball.
In the end at nearly 17hh he was too much for me, 5ft, and has since been sold. The new owner is also finding him a handfull and so is soon selling him as a hunter.

They are both gorgeous and very well proportioned for their age and wolley coats. Some yearlings don't even resemble horses at this time of year never mind look stunning!!! I love the pic of them both together.

Interesting your filly is not going to be huge as everyone tells me he really adds height. I'm going to the Sosath stallion show in a few weeks as wanted to be sure I saw Stedinger. I am sure his stud fee is going to keep going up which is my only concern as I want to use him next year and use Weltmeyer this year. Did you breed chilled or frozen to him?

Yeah we heard that also. I think she will be a bit bigger than her dam, but not by a huge difference. Both Stedinger and Rotspon were chilled semen as the mare was in Germany at a breeding farm who also specialise in all repro work. So we were very lucky that way.

Thats going to be one of my questions at Sosath then - how easy is it going to be to get chilled when I need it. When young stallions and both popular and competing it can be hard to make sure they are available when you need them

Volatis that is our worry this year. I would love to get chilled semen from Germany but I am a little worried about couriers etc. So was thinking of sending a tank over to get frozen instead. Its not easy to figure out whats the best option.

I know I can get chilled in from Holland as the flights into Aberdeen are pretty straightforward, but am just not sure about Germany, and there are a few I would like to use.

Have also been looking at some of the stallions in France as well, but I think that should be easy enough to come into Aberdeen as well.

Would be interested on your thoughts after the Sosath show, and also what info you found out on the semen.

I got chilled from Germany fine last year, into Gatwick I think, then couriered up to us. One batch did get sent to Cardiff in error by the courier but when I created a fuss they got it on a van and up to us and we had it in the mare by the end of the day.

Stunning babies Anatasia! From the pics Sugababe has the edge for me, but they are both gorgeous.

And nice of you to post helpful 'proof of the pudding' pics so people can decide which stallions to use!

Thanks SM and Htobago....

Sometimes I think it gives people a bit more information if they see some of the foals born. Its far from me to tell anyone what to use etc, but thought with the amount of people who are humming and heying over stallion choices just now, every little helps.....
