I no its probably a really silly question but do all steel grey eventually turn white? Shes only 3 and a half years now, shes has really dark almost black legs, dark mane but does have a mottled face, and some white in her tail??

What do you think, dont have a pic yet sorry,

Thankies Steph x

Yip unfortunately .

If she has any grey in her at all guaranteed she will start to turn .

I am sure this time next year she will look totally different again

They do 'grey out' eventually but some can take ages to do it. I bought my grey as a weanling and apart from literally a couple of grey hairs, she was jet black. Now as a four year old, she has a fairly grey tail and is peppered with lots of grey hairs and has a bit on her face but i think it willl take her a lifetime for her to go 'white', which is just as well as i don't relish the thought of cleaning her when she is!! LOL!

I think it all depends on the horse. Heres a couple of pics of mine as a foal and then this summer.

My 2 yr other welshie is steel grey but i have nticed lots of white flecks

Yes my horse was steel grey, then dapple and is now flea bitten going white, but still has black knees and hocks.

The grey colour is a strange one and its my fave.
