I am thinking about buying a stephens sheepskin saddle pad and was wondering if any one had any trouble when washing them. I was planning on getting an all white or all black one but I can get a one that is mainly red with white "fur/wool" or a one with a blue base with the cream fur cheeper buy about £40. seen as the base colour will be coverd by the saddle I'm more inclined to buy the cheeper one. But If the colour runs from the red/blue into the white fur then there is no point. If you have any experiance with this please let me no as I would be realy greatful.

I just washed mine at the week-end and it was fine. I have the full jumping saddle pad with cream sheepskin and black cloth under saddle flaps. I put it on the hand wash cycle then on the radiator to dry. the colour never ran into each other.

I find the Stephens ones quite thick which is ok if your saddle is too wide but if your saddle fits with just a normal numnah then it will be a bit narrow with a Stephens pad on.
The Roma Merino wool ones are thinner and wash really well.

Ditto that, if you have a correctly fitted saddle any of these heavy sheepskin pads are going to make the saddle too tight.

Just think if you got a bra fitted then decide to wear it over a wooly jumper, wouldn't be too comfortable!
