…. died this afternoon, following the injuries that he received. It seems that he was run over by the starting stalls, presumably as they were being moved. Racing was abandoned, and rightly so.

A tragedy. Our thoughts must be with Stephen's family, his work colleagues and all those involved.

Racing Post is saying racing takes place tomorrow at Haydock which I think is a insensitive to the poor man's family. Surely the course should allow the police and HSE to complete their investigation before resuming racing.

Awful news. And yes postponing the meeting would seem appropriate. But maybe his family have asked for it to continue.

watching racing on tv, to be honest i have often thought how dangerous the loading in the stalls procedure could be if the slightest thing went wrong.
