I know loads of people on here have regular steriod injections for their horses, so this question is directed at you!! My horse had his first steriod injection in December and then had to have 4 weeks box rest. He was then brought back into work and has been fine, until this eve. He feels as he did before the last injection so will be getting vet out in next day or so. My question is how long do you box rest your neddies after the injection? I think I read on here that some only needed 48 hours? experiences please.

I had my horse injected last week. Had 48hr box rest and then few days turnout. Is now hacking lightly in walk and aim is to build it up over next few week. Currently only doing 20 min. Vet coming back to review in 4 week.

Mine had 48 hours stabled (because of risk of infection to site), 24 hour turnout then light work (straight lines and no hills, walk only) for a week, then increase to normal work, vet came 12 days after injections and passed as sound and ready to continue with normal work.

Vet said should be up to around an hour hack with 10 minutes of trot incorporated into that. No canter or jumping in that time. All our hacking is mostly straight roads and only gentle hills so he will be getting gentle hacking.

Thanks again for replies. Vet is coming out about 6pm this eve so time will tell. Luckily (well sort of!!) we have no hills as we areon the edge of the fens so plenty of staright lines and flatness!!!

3 days box rest followed by 2 weeks light exercise (turnout ok and hacking), then review before commencing full work.
