Are there any side effects.

Chancer is now on them for his itchy willy and they have stopped him humping the ground which is great.

Someone told me they can cause colic. I don't know if this is true or not.

My vet didn't tell me to watch out for anything in terms of side effects. He is going to be on a course for 22 days, reducing every 6 days

He has never suffered from anything (apart from his itchy todge) and is fed simple systems diet with ad lib hay and is never without food at any time - he always has a little hay in his haybag in the morning.

Should I be concerned about his health?

i think steroids can in rare cases cause laminitis but not heard of any thing else and i don't personally know of it causing laminitis just think i read it somewhere.

It depends on the steroid and the dose as to potential side effects. It sounds as if he is only on a short course. If you are at all concerned ask you vet. Normal things to monitor are temperature and foot pulses.

I've heard about the lamititis link too, I think it was my vet that was telling me about it when we were thinking of giving Chex some for an allergic reaction he had or something
