hi just found out my horse has arthritis in his hock and fetlock he is due to have injection today but am worried bout it he has had lami before so thinking may try to manage things see how he gets on advice/ experience on either woul be fab thanks

You have got to way up the pros and cons of having this done. If you have not already done so I would speak to the vet and get their honest opiun on this.Sorry not real help on this but if was me would talk to the vet.

I would ask your vet, my boy had injections for coffin joint arthritis, the vet said as he was overweight (due to lack of work) he was at a massively high risk of lami despite never having it before, he didn't but all horses are different. Give you vet a call and see what they say.

hi really rubbish on here sorry if this is in wrong place:confused: thanks for replys. Spoke with vet she thinks should def have it, he has no luck if any thing is going to get it its him:eek: thinking will try supplements and alt treatments little needlely thing and massage and fancy boots not saying never just maybe try this first he is very unlucky any other experiences would be great thanks xxxx

If it were me & my boy all over again, i think i would hold back on the injections, sadly for my boy they didn't work, sure if they had have done i would advise you to have them done, but if you and your boy can manage using alternative treatments I would go down that road for now. Good luck x

Have had one of mine injected 3 or 4 times in hocks. Only seemed to work for about a month each time so I have not had it done in over a year now. I didn't have any lami worries though. Personally found 24/7 turnout has helped as much as anything.... We have to bring in at night for a few months in the winter at my yard but he goes out at 6am and not in until about 5pm at night.
I use Cortavet (x2 strength Cortaflex) - can get of internet... TBH not sure it makes a hugey difference but I feel like I am doing something.
The joints in my boy will eventually fuse so he will be pain free then :)
