Steroid injections

My horse has had steroid injections into his navicular bursar on both fronts. I was told to leave him in for the rest of the day and that he could then go out. Does this sound right or should he have stayed in for 3 days?

They are sometimes kept in at certain times of year if there is a laminitis risk. I guess now is not especially high risk given the time of year...
