After a year of trying every possible ( conventional and alternative) to manage my 4 year old spaniel's shoulder / elbow joint issues, it appears that we are running out of alternatives and the vet has prescribed steroid as a long term measure:( - I have always had the philosophy that quality of life is more important than quantity.
.
Is there anything I can do to limit any liver damge they may cause? I know that Milk Thistle is taken by people to support the liver - can it be used for dogs, if so, what dose?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Hi. I don't know the answer to your Q but try Global Herbs. I strongly recommend their products on horses and they do a dog range. Call them they are bets and can help. My setter was on high dose steroids when she got meningitis after 6 month we had to take off. As I said she was on a high dose and it took its toll I can't comment on a maintanance dose. Good luck

Thanks for the suggestions so far - I will email Global herbs and see what they say, and have a decent look at the other link when I am back from work.

Thanks
Tamsin
