the vet is coming out to the yard on friday so i will ask her then but:

rolex has been on steroids (for his intestines) for about 3 weeks. in this short time his neck and body has gone solid and he has put on weight. is this something i should be worried about? he is starting to have a build more like a heavy cob than a miniature

anyone have any experience in this?

As Nailed has said orin. For horses, one of the most dangerous side effects of steroids is laminitis. Not sure if ingested steroids are as dangerous as injected but I'm surprised your vet didn't warn you before your horse started on them. If your ned has put on a massive amount of weight in a very short time he is a prime candidate for laminitis. I'd ring before Friday to discuss alternative options, if there are any. Often there aren't so it's a question of managing your ned as a high laminitis risk.
