Just had my second jumping lesson which was brilliant as usual. I left feeling like I could jump anything and everything. Told Steve of my problems recently to which he stated that due to my style changing the horse has to adapt and can sometimes in tense situations not understand why you are riding him differently, thus making the horse unsure and panic. He told me to be consistent and stick with my style so eventually the jump and way will improve a great deal. The lesson started again with Steve getting Penfold responsive to my leg in canter, and working on shoulder fore. I then played over a few cross poles with water trays underneath practising flying changes and keeping the rhythm. We then moved onto jumping a water jump (which Penfold has never jumped before) and a course which was about 1 20. Penfold flew and Steve within 1 minute saw the problem that happens which was when Penfold backs off I give away the contact and do not hold and make him use his hind quarters.
Steve would not accept payment, but I gave him some as I did not feel that it was a favor as I definitely want to go back for more.
With having a dressage lesson yesterday and a jumping lesson today (I feel really luckily having two brilliant lessons) it makes you realise how people explain and build confidence in you makes you change from a self doubting wreck of a female to someone with goals and wants to learn more..I think we all go through these stages.
