I don't know whether this is common at all in Warmblood types but my girl (16.1) is 7yrs old and when i first get on to ride her she is always quite stiff through her back.
I have now got into the habit of accepting this and before i get on i put her equilibrium massage pad on for 15mins, then i warm up long and low so she can stretch through her back and after say about 20mins she is great and isn't stiff at all.
Has anyone else got a horse that is stiff to start with I just find it really odd at her age? Do you think there are any supplements out there that would help? I was thinking maybe cortaflex or a cheaper version? Any ideas

I usually lunge before i clamber on. I personally feel it is very important to see how the horse is going before getting on and warm up/loosen up muscles etc. Also helps put the horse in work mode before getting on. I find it very useful allround, and rarely get on without lunging beforehand.
