......Also known as my thread of summer things; based off an idea on another forum I want somewhere to post some of the summer exploits I will be getting up to, hopefully, between now and September.
There's a lot I want to do horse-wise, but I tend to say I want to do something, then give way to being fearful about it and not push through that fear simply because there's nothing/no one to make me.
Hopefully this will be that shove I need to stick two fingers up to fear!
Things will be crossed off once done!
- Hack out - not done this for about 6 years. Never, ever fallen off on a hack, only ever in an arena...yet feel safest riding in an arena. So would love to get out the school, particularly as it's summer.
- Canter on a hack. Never done this ever either because I am a wuss; high speed spooks are a very scary possibility and I have a horrible tendency to catastrophize, but I need to trust the spotty beast a bit more. She doesn't believe in spooks but I do so always err on the side of caution.
- Hack out alone. Never done this either and it would be a big step in trusting my horse more to do it.
- Jump. Not done this in about 6 - 7 years either, yikes. Will probably done with my eyes shut but still!!
- Gallop. I've never actually galloped a horse intentionally...
- Lead another horse whilst hacking. Never done but always wanted to just for the convenience, but would have to trust both horses to do it and I'm awful at doing trusting one, let alone multiple, lol.
- Compete! Never done this ever - I hate riding in front of people - but sod that too. I want to do dressage. Even if it's just a walk-trot test it would be a start.
- BEACH RIDE
- Pub ride
- Fun/sponsored ride
- Maybe find somewhere to go driving. Haven't done it in ages though and was most beginnerish beginner ever, but it was fun, so would definitely like to do it again.
- Also, just for fun: meet a mule, because they are awesome (or look it anyway).
It seems like a lot of stuff but I have three months in which to do it all and an awful lot of it is quite basic things that I really should be doing already. Need to bring Diva back into work as she had time off whilst I had GCSEs but once that's done (and I am very worried about getting back on for some reason...), there is literally nothing stopping me except my stupid fear. So let's get cracking
