Just wondered if anyone else's horse suffered from dry/ sticky eyes?

My Gelding will always have a bit of 'sleep' in the corner of his eyes in the mornings after being in his stable. The only time he doesn't have it seems to be if he is living out and the flies aren't about. I have therefore concluded that this is a problem from dust in the stable but he has been bedded on straw, bedmax and cardboard and still he has the problem.

I manage it by bathing them daily with eyebright tea which works well but never fully clears. I have had him checked by the vet and there is no problem or infection. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and maybe have a solution?

Cheers

Yup, another reason I prefer horses out where possible. Only thing I've found that worked was turnout, pref 24/7. Sorry that probs isn't much help. Should say though that you might be better in a stable that isn't near other on straw/is well ventilated etc etc. Have you got the option to swap stables?

ETS: I get sore eyes from mucking out too but the effect does seem to lessen as you get used to it and I've observed horses being worst when they are first brought in for the winter so it might improve a bit.
