Yesterday I noticed my boy was a bit sticky in his hind movement when I went to see him in the morning. (he roams the yard during the night and I thought maybe he was a bit stiff from the cold) it seemed to ease up and I thought not a lot more of it..... This morning it was this same, sticky and stiff in his hinds and was i bit more concerned. A knowledgeable friend brought him in for the farrier and also noticed it and mentioned it and now I am concerned. He doesn't seem uncomfortable, he was charging around the paddock this morning, he is eating and going to the loo as normal....... There is also no heat on his legs or feet.

Any thoughts? Should I call the vet out or leave it a few days and see how he goes? (i always call the vet for the slightest thing and don't want to go into panicked mummy mode!)

If it were my horse I would call the vet, i.e. she has never done this before. I would be worried about laminitis, a strain in the back or hips through being cast or even some muscular damage - all of which may need antiinflamatories at the very least. Acting sooner than later with anti-inflamatories could stop things getting worse or the horse compensating in other muscles.
