Sorry this thread is not as interesting as it sounds!! Could anyone tell me if cleavers (sticky willy) is harmful to horses. My mare seems to seek it out in the hedge when I lead her in from the field and she seems to love it.

I'd read somewhere it's good for them, don't know what they get from it but it's not harmful. My horses have always loved it!

It acts as a natural detox, let her eat it, it is good for her. I pull it up for mine along with nettles and feed it, they love something different from grass or hay.

Good for laminitics too!! Horses tend to seek out herbs/plants that they need or are good for them. I always let my mare stop on the way back from hacking to eat cleavers and thistles too when they're out! :)

My two cobs both love clivers, very good for lammi, circulation and feet in general I think. I pick big clumps for them when I remember.

my dog (spayed female) seeks this out and has been eating it for years...i was worried and looked it up on the internet and apparantly it used to be used for " womens problems" so it may work for female animals as well...

Kali loves it . . . it's supposed to be good for them . . . natural purgative of toxins.
