My Welsh x Fell pony has arthritis and is 20+ years old. She keeps weight on reasonably well, but now is starting to drop condition a little. She is regularly wormed according to her egg count. She has an MOT once a year with the vet and is in good health apart from the arthritis. She is in light work, regular hacking. She has always been on ad lib forage, with a little chop and sugar beet once a day.
I put a thread on a little while ago and some kind soul put loads of info on for me about magnesium, but I can't find it now.
I would like to feed my pony as naturally as possible. Can anyone suggest any natural supplements that might help her keep the weight on and further support her arthritis? Oh, at the mo, has to have bute occasionally. Thanks for reading :)

Mine is on Boswellia ( me too:o) I found it had a slow loading period, but after at least a month he is very loose in his movement and hasn't needed any bute this winter.
For myself, it's the best thing I've tries, so far!

I have my 22yr old TB on cider vinegar and cortaflex. When she is stiff Danilon or bute do nothing to help her but Equine America's Buteless really helps.
The biggest improvement has been since she started living out 24/7 a year ago. As a TB I was worried about her losing condition but I've changed her feed accordingly. She is no longer stiff and she moves better than she has in a few years. If your horse is stabled at all it might be worth considering turning out full time.
