Hi,
My mare has done this a few times now and it seems to coincide with when she had her back done. When her back was done, her pelvis was seriously out and the chiro said that she's essentially, been standing on three legs. Now she's sorted and she stands on all four now. It could just be coincidence, but since she's been 'fixed' she, very occasionally (three times in five months) seems very stiff after she's been resting a leg for a long time (I say this because she looks like she's been asleep- loose bottom lip etc. When she wakes up, she looks horrendous for about three strides, majorly lame, and them she's 100% again...does anyone else have this? I'm concerned but my sensible side says that when I sit still for too long I walk strangely for a few strides and then I'm fine and there's nothing wrong with me...any thoughts? :-(

My mare 18 year old ID does exactly this after she has been layed down then gets up to move off and also sometimes even if she has been rolling. As if she can't put it down and hobbles on three legs almost, only for a few strides then it's gone. I know she struggles with that off hind for the farrier too. She has improved with me using devils releif in her feed. I've noticed she now lays down for much longer and it is easier for her when she gets up too.

She's 14 and has bone spavin - should gave put this! I've been schooling her and she has been stunning with her lateral stuff, circles, etc. She has glucosamine supplement but maybe I need to get her something else? Made my heart sink yesterday and I thought I might be wirkingbher too hard or something but I've Bern told I need to keep riding her...glad I'm not the only one it happens too but it did really upset me yesterday! Thanks for replying
