stiffness / clicky joints

lately ive started to notice more that my pony is 'clicking' behind it goes away after being warmed up and riding for about 10minutes or maybe 15. and is usually in the school rather than hacking.

however i jumped in a comp sunday and when loosening her off i heard this clicking behind again.

she is 14, a little stiff behind and is on cortaflex, she has been in this week due to wet ground but has been exercised everyday and stable bandaged. but she clicks even when turned out 8-5.

any suggestions, thoughts or help? i don't know what i should be doing about it

I've just put my horse on cod liver oil for similar reasons. Seems to have made a difference in a very short space of time.

No clicking in his stifle, and generally less stiff when he comes out of his stable (after having stood in for a while).
 
My share horse is on glucosamine for his clicking..... doesnt seem to make a huge difference (can still hear him clicking at the beginning of a ride) but then I dont know what he's like when he's not on it!!!
 
Your horse could have bog spavins!Everyone hears those words and panics but as my vet said theres a lot of horses that do have them but they are never diagnosed!My horse was diagnosed with them earlier this year and her joints do tend to click when beginning exercise just as she is stiffer when she begins but loosens off.It may be worth getting a vet to check for spavins as the prognosis is much better the earlier it's caught but a supplement I would recommend is cosequin.I swear by it and it's the only joint supplement vets reccomend and that has under gone clinical trials.It may seem expensive but it lasts a very long time!

I have found a big improvement in Cairo's stiffness since I have fed instant linseed. I also changed from cortaflex to equine america's MSM and noticed no different apart from my bank balance. The combination of linseed and MSM works for him.
 
My girls' hocks have always clicked. She's 14 also and never show any signs of stiffness. Wondered whether it was too do with air pockets as daisychain mentions, as it makes the same sounds as when you 'pull/click' your fingers.
 
i posted a thing like this the other day in the vet forum, my mares back hock seems to click in the school but the more work i do it easts off a little, doesn't seem to cause any pain/lameness my vet has said some horses are clicky as some people are and its not to worry about i have put her on cod liver oil but am looking for a sup just to help as she is 11 so would like to start feeding her joints now.
