Hi all,

Any recommendations on supplements to give my border collie. She is getting stiffer behind and I wondered about giving him some supplements to help her. Wondered about Cortaflex that you get for dogs??

She runs about during the day and then stiffens up at night and sometimes struggles to push herself off the floor.

Any suggestions??

Synoquin long term but would speak to the vet now about Acupuncture and Cartrophen injections. Make sure weight is good and that regular, shorter exercise is maintained. A nice deep bed and limit stairs if you can and having to jump big to get in and out of cars and no sleeping in draughts! Also a maintenance dose of Rimadyl, Metacam or Pevicox might help again, in consultation with your vet!
Best of luck!

Firstly, check the food, are you feeding a senior food, and does it have added glucosamine?

Cortaflex is a little expensive, you could try the NAF Superflex or just pure glucosamine. We sell Science with Nature Multiplex HA to a border collie breeder, but our best seller for joints is food - Oscar pet foods Pinnacle of Life. Link is www.oscars.co.uk, pm me for more info.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, will go and look at all the possibilities mentioned.

Our collie is quite picky about her food........she loves the food we get from our local feed shop which is designed for collies with almost like treacle through it.......dogs just love it. If you put them back onto a plain mix or other dry food then they are not soo keen...

Green lipped mussel extract worth a try? A friend of mine used it for her ancient arthritic retriever and it helped him no end.
