My dog is coming up for 10yrs and is starting to show some stiffness especially after longer walks. She's really stiff when getting up after lying down but once moving seems ok.

Does anyone have any suggestions on any supplements that would help her along or anything that I can give her to ease the stiffness after her longer walks?

What about some liniment being rubbed into her, i used to use a good linement on the horses. I can't remember what it was called, would come in a plastic bottle (square almost)with an orange/blue sticker i would dilute it with meths & water and after work/walk spray it on and rub it in, worked wonders.

I'm trying to think of the name?????????????????????????

Shorter walks and little and often. A really soft bed with limited stair walking. If you dog likes swimming, more water working less walking and axupuncture is good. You could speak to your vet about Cartrophen injections as they can be really good!

I have a Collie who will be 17 next month. He started to show signs of hip stiffness and i was told to put him on New Zealand green lipped mussles. They have really helped. You can buy them in a health food shop.the stronger they are the better.I just gave my dog half a tablet for a week then a whole one once a week.

Glucosamine & MSN is good

My parent's border collie is nearly 12 and is on it, she also has a magnetic bioflow collar.

I think there is something called Joint Aid that is meant to be good (contains glucosamine & msn and also other stuff like vit c.)

Have also heard the NZ green lipped mussels work

Nupafeed do a dog supplement that contains green lipped mussel. Its human grade so its good stuff! Our dogs are on it at the moment, one has previously broken both its elbows, and they are all doing well on it!

Matty is 9 now and xhowed some stiffness when getting up and lying down for a while. My vet put her on Glycofles 2 and she has shown a big improvement. They are tablets and she has one a day.

Your story is the same as mine.

I was recommended Riaflex & my old girl has become a young girl!!

The affects were absolutley astonishing! I'd almost forgotton the way that she would instigate a game with my young dog, and how she used to twirl round & round at a hundred miles an hour!

Honestly, I cant recommend it enough!

ps: I have no connections to this company what so ever! I'm just so impressed by it!

They do 2 products, 1 for horses & 1 for dogs.
