Im just bringing my horse back into work after a bout of lameness, vets checked him over and given all clear, but Ive noticed when schooling him he seems to be very stiff, almost stumbling over himself when bending. he is totally 110% sound on straight or slight turn, and fine to lunge in all gaits, it only happens when I really ask him to really bend in trot or faster, walk he is fine.

instructor says it could be a joint or ligament soreness left over form lameness and to give him a little more rest incase hes still sore, I dont want to jump at getting the vet out and running up unnecessary bills if maybe weve been a bit premature in working him again, I guess Im just worried about whether there could be more to it? could it be a symptom of something more serious? I have a massive tendancy to worry totally obsessively and unnecessarily when it comes to this horse, so am trying to restrain myself from calling the vet just yet.

So basically am I worrying about nothing here or should alarm bells be going off???

perhaps as he is just coming back into work his muscles are not supple enough to cope with too much bending? if this is the case then bringing him back slowly and getting him stronger before asking too much of him is your best bet.
how was he before? i know it is so hard not to obsess over every slight trip or uneven step when they are coming back from injury but as he is sound in all other respects maybe a physio/chiro check to see if he is okay in his back etc?
