So where to start... I have a lovely 6 y/o gelding who I’ve only owned for 2 months now. He’s the sweetest boy and I couldn’t believe my luck, however last 2 weeks haven’t been great. He got attacked in his field one day while I was trying to get him in, the other horse charging him into the metal gate and galloping around the field, eventually he jumped the gate to get out. It broke my heart and was awful to watch (I couldn’t stop them despite trying). He is now in a different field with a new companion and seems so much happier. However... our fields are awful atm due to rain, he has slight mud fever which I have been treating. Last week his legs swelled and he couldn’t walk, vet came out and diagnosed Cellulitis which has since been treated with antibiotics. Legs seem back to normal. But since the day in the field he just doesn’t seem right and I know something is off. It isn’t the cellulitis as he seemed off before that (there was a week period in between). He’s started to seem a bit angry in his stable, he seems in pain if I ride and doesn’t want to go forwards. Ears pinned back, not tracking up behind in trot and last night was very sensitive if I touched his stifles/flanks/gaskin. I just don’t know what to do. Do you guys think he could have injured himself that day in the field? It’s both sides, so I’m wondering if maybe he’s done damage to his pelvis? I am trying to get a chiropractic vet out as I don’t have much faith in usual vet (bad experience with my previous horse who I lost last year)... what would you do? He hasn’t been himself since the day in the field at all. I can just tell something is up but I don’t want to rack up the vet bills so soon :( any advice appreciated as I’m losing my mind on google/Facebook groups!

Chiropractic vet sounds like a good idea, I have a physio come out to mine who works with the vets and I have to call the vets and let them know when I book her. She is brilliant and worked alongside my vet in treating one of them.
