How much would an MRI cost? Ball park. Just wondering if insurance pays out for latest issues how much would it cost to know exactly what we are dealing with. X-rays don’t show all the soft tissues of course. Vital structures around knees.

I'm not sure on cost but I understand that they have to give them a GA to MRI the stifle. For this reason I think a lot of vets bypass the MRI and go straight to arthroscopy. They can use that both to find out what the issue is and do any tidying up so it saves them having to knock the horse out twice if they MRI and find out they have to go on to do surgery anyway.

I believe @HelenBack is correct - I'm not actually sure you can MRI much above the foot yet due to equipment necessary. If t he arthroscopy finds nothing the healing would be quick and if it did they would know exactly what you are dealing with. MRI of 2 feet is £950
