stifle op - back to fitness question

Have vet coming on Monday for check up but just wondering if anyone has advice after bringing horse back into work after bone chip removal (hind leg)-- 6 weeks walk and just starting trot, horse clips road at times with his hind toes.;was prone to this before op but with both and not just the one, now predominately the one operated on. NOT AT ALL LAME/STIFF. Is this because of level of fitness (or not?!), laziness or pain? I know i have vet coming but just don't want to be paranoid over the w/e. have stoped trotting too! Thanks!

Could just be a habit but next time your Farrier is over ask about rolled toe shoes. Thats supposed to help with things like this.
