Stifle problems, any experience???

Right so star still 'not right' and the next step was to get my back lady to check her. She came last night and sized her up and watch me ride again, thinking she would say it was a front end problem or back but she is now convinced we are still dealing with a hind problem.....says she is tracking up straight on right but on left hind she is tracking outwards (if u get what i mean)

She is convinced the problem lies somewhere around the sifle area and after the spavin treatment she noted some discomfort then...so the next step is to get the vet to scan/xray there..

Has anyone had any experience of this???
 
yes several times so far and he is stumped - hence why the next step was to call my oesteopath to see if she could help pin point anything...

Basically she was treated for spavin in hind around april time - come back into work great then about 5wks ago went 'lame' as such. But not normal lame, is more of a discomfort hoppiness and changing of tranistions herself etc. Orginally she was coming up lame on front right flexion but over the weeks this has got better but the ridden problem is just as bad. She was on bute for about 3-4wks which made no difference wha so ever!!! Least now my oesteopath has atleast pointed out the main area she is concerned about so the vet can't do more investigating????

Just wondering if the spavin we treated in april was actually the main problem as it was sooo slight..and infact it's been the stifles all along etc
 
Has your Vet not referred your horse to an Equine Specialist (and I mean a properly qualified on paper) or one of the Vet Uni's for further investigation!
 
Possible arthritis in stifle as well as hocks?
OH's horse had spavin, came sound for a year, then became very short behind & in pain; everything seems to point to the stifle. Spent ££££££ on tests, vet hospital still not sure but think arthritis in the stifle most likely.
 
Well thats what we are thinking now - just waiting for vet to get back of hol to book her in for scans/x-rays etc now we at least have some area to work with...

Take it your OH's horse is retired now then? Will be worse if something like that as i wouldnt be able to breed from her either...
 
Yup retired (at 10) and gradually being turned away (trying to wean him off bute but he got sore after just a couple of days without).
Only hope really is that time / nature can sort things out.
OH was dressage writing the other day, the judge had had similar problem with a younger horse, after a year or so in the field it came sound so we are hoping we can be lucky too.
