I wonder if anyone has had experience of the above problem with their horse and what the treatment offered was and what the outcome was. Many thanks

I dont know all the details but lady on our yard has a horse with a meniscus problem, he is turned out bandaged and has stable support bandages on at night. He is aged now but she rode him normally up until recently, Im not sure why she has stopped. It has flared up a couple of times since Ive been on the yard (over 4 yrs) and he takes a shorter stride with the affected leg but she turns him out as usual and it seems to right itself in about a week. He does get 1/2 a danilon every day or every other day though. Sorry not much use but thougt Id mention it.

My boy damaged meniscus and collateral ligament of his stifle in Dec 05, had adequan injections, xrays at 3 month intervals up to a year, then after 18 months still wasnt sound. Was turned out through the day in at night, and given cortaflex.

After 18 months was advised to retire/claim loss of use as prognosis became poor.

However, with slow and gradual increase in work he became sound to hack.
Unfortunately has been out of work since June and is now lame on that hind leg and unsure if its due to stifle or spavin in his hocks.

Was offered arthroscopy, but told this couldnt guarantee success, so in view of his age and risk of aneasthetic decllined surgery.

Good luck and hope your horse recovers well. x
