HI
My 5 year old Andalusian had a stifle arthroscopy in April to find so filtering of his cartilage in both stifles
He had steroids and HA put in the joint and I was advised to work him with the prognosis of a reduced ridden career, past couple of months he's done great until the start of October he went lame again, popped him on bute and he was ok until now!
Lame again and swollen stifle again!
Has anyone else had this and what was the outcome? I don't feel a life of steroids is great for the joint ? Going to ring the vets first thing tomorrow morning

If steroid medication isn't lasting then it is worth considering alternative types of joint medication. Arthramid can be effective (in simple terms it improves the cushioning in the joint by attracting water into it) or you could use a "regenerative" type of treatment such as IRAP which has no long term contraindications for the joint, has good anti-inflammatory properties, as well as helping the cartilage to repair itself which is obviously beneficial for the joint in the longterm.

Thank you
Will speak to the vet as he is still quite lame at the minute, out of insurance now as used the whole 5k with diagnosis so having to pay for everything he has now
