Bought a rising 4 yr old from Ireland , been free jumped and lunged .🤦‍♀️ Never really moved as well as I expected- backed and hacking for 12 months, little bit of schooling swished tail in the canter only. Was turned away for 3 months during this period and came straight back into work easily. Remained barefoot and started to wear one hind foot more than the other . Put shoes on and went lame behind. Flexions & USS of stifles showed stifle Synovitis- medicated - rested - rehab walk programme, tiny trots - started moving better. 7 weeks later injected Arthramid. - walked only for 3 weeks , but 3 weeks after Arthramid - bolted - and again and again - anyone had the same experience or could offer advise. Full set of X-rays - all clear .

When you have issues like this that the vets aren't sure about, a good place to start is assessing posture balance and movement. If you have no expert to hand (they're often slightly alternative, and rare) then have a gentle play with the work in the FB group Slow Walk Work. Obviously proceed with caution but it's kinda "non invasive" and would seldom be contraindicated.

Do you at least have a really good bodyworker, who DOES look at all this (far from all do) who you could talk this through with and look at options?

Will have a look at the group. Yes, still have input from sports vet, chiro, acupuncture treatment. A lot of walk and long reining. I just feel they want him up and running to build strength before turning away. Whereas , I’m wanting to turn away and am wondering about the arthramid making his stifles worse .
