I have been looking for a hunter now for what seems like an eternity. Under £5000, chunky type something like a ID or IDX between 5 and 9. Must hack alone, and be a ladies hip flask hunter, I have my own place but have to hack alone and meet big traffic. The horse needs to hunt middle to back or the field, jump a set of rails out of a rhythm and must not be offended if I get it wrong, needs to leave the field alone when I want to go home, and deal with it on the trailer alone. It has to be over 16.1 and not fussed mare or gelding must be in Worcestershire and surrounding areas and must be open to 5 star vetting. It feels like I am looking for the impossible at the moment, off to Shane Walsh tomorrow to see if he has anything suitable.

I always find that when I stop looking they turn up. Our boy above turned up after we gave up looking having looked at so much rubbish. Had him 8 years now and still a star.

Once I'm logged in on a computer I'll PM you a hunting yard's details. They had a lot of lovely stock last year brought over from Ireland. They are a proper hunting family so you will get a lovely experienced hunter.

Great hunters are hard to find and rarely get sold .
My lovely Fatty went in H and H. On Thursday MrGS was abroad I remember saying if he's as described he'll be gone by Saturday he flew in thurs night I picked him up and we drove to within an hour of where the horse was to be viewed and tried him first thing Friday am ,the owner was continually taking calls during the time we viewed him.
Great hunters not often sold .
The alternative is to buy a young one and make your own , time consuming but fun We have Fatties understudy in training ATM .
You just have to keep looking keep telling everyone you meet you are looking you never know where the next ones coming from.
Good luck I hope you find ' the one ' soon.

As others, they are hard to come across, we chanced upon all of ours, allthough have made them into hunters. Current one happened to be a comment from someone in my mums vet surgery, she wasn't even really for sale at that point they where just thinking about it, and I wasn't meant to be looking at that point. Was definitely a good find though!!

Sounds like you are looking for what 90% of people are looking for. ..... tbh, for the perfectly mannered hunter you are describing, I'd expect to have to pay more.

I have one for sale in your budget, which ticks most of your boxes but is slightly smaller and a lot more keen than you want - best luck in the search - the perfect hunter is hard to find - we've abandoned buying them and just make our own!

I agree with this post I am making one ATM I got him last December ( I did a good deal just before Christmas )he won't be 'made 'until the end of next season .
He will then be seven if I was to go to buy one like him before his eight year old season I would expect to look in the £ 8 to 10 k bracket and would be prepared to pay more for one that ticked every box.
