AHHHH its a matter of days until our first run of the season!!! getting excited now!!
In the mean time we have been ramming in much needed prep, another trip out to stressage for the riding club qualifiers, unfortunately Beanz still thinks dressage sucks so he didnt perform as i know he can, we did come home with some rossies and helped the teams place but individually it was not quite how i wanted scoring mediocre 58%'s he just doesnt want to help me out and let go of his neck and relax atm, you cant force it so i guess its a waiting game for him to realise its comfier and easier for him to just chill out! heyho it is what it is and he has reached the 7 yr old strops!!!
Onto to jumping.... he likes jumping!!
I've been setting up some fun things at home to play with and hes been jumping like a pro here's a pic of us at home training:
Next up was xc schooling HE WAS MEGA!!! Started off rather keen 🙈 and was flying through 100/novice combinations like nobodies business!! A related curving distance between 2 skinny brushes at 100 height!! 😍 the 100 trakenher where I rode like a **** because well its a trakenher!! #uselessmother #hatethosefences beanz didnt quite know what all the fuss was about!! 🤣
We did have a small blip through a 100 combination, something he hasnt been asked of before, a rather large step down to a plastic skinny arrowhead where I rode like a pleb and we got to the arrowhead with no impulsion and just fell into it, being plastic he stuck his foot through it and slightly frightened himself BUT Im super proud because despite that we did make it through it on reapproach although cautiously AND then added the 100 coffin to the end of the combination!! 😍 He was just plain awesome!!
And finally we headed off to a john adams sj clinic last night he jumped like a pro working mainly on related distances and getting him to relax through his neck and jaw and work more over his back creating and more manageable canter! Lots of homework to keep us going!
sadly no pics of xc or jump clinic as was flying solo as usual!
The bear sadly isnt right again so is back off to horspital on monday for our final attempt of getting him sound, if this doesnt work ill cry some more and make the decision to retire i think, its not fair on him to keep trying and failing, at the age of 10 i just cant bring myself to give up though so its going to be a tough one
hopefully ill have some good news all round on my next report!
