Does anyone else have experience of this
My 4 yo cocker spaniel bitch was pregnant with her first litter scanned with heartbeats bitch very healthy.
On Thursday she miscarried two pups at 54 days. Back to vets three heartbeats remaining. Slight discharge vets advice to keep her quiet and stress free and monitor. Last night ((56days) she gave birth to the remaining three pups. All were born dead with no respiratory effort made by any of them. Although tired she is fine in herself, no temperature just very tired.
She will be back to the vets tomorrow am for a check up but;
Has anyone experienced this before and the bitch has gone on to have a healthy litter.
I will, of course, be taking the vets advice but they did not seem to have any ideas as to why this would have happened all normal possibilities have been ruled out. The b itch and dog are both health tested and clear.

It has been a bit of a traumatic few days and terrible last night but hey ho at least Millie is ok. Start lambing next week and a foal due early June so hopefully this is a one off!

I am sorry for you loss of a litter.Could it have been caused by the herpes virus?Ive read about similar losses caused by this awful virus.

So sorry, I had a bitch miscarry at 7.5 weeks. tested for herpes, came back clear. My friend found some info from America, I can't remember which hormone it is, but the affected bitch has enough to conceive pups and to carry till about 7 weeks, but then it "runs out".

The vet can inject the specific hormone, I think it was twice through the pregnancy
My vet hadn't heard of this, but was willing to try, if she was mated again.

Just found this post that I put up so an update for anyone that read it
After a lot of research we were advised to have her vaccinated with canine herpes vaccine when aiming to breed from her. This we did and she went on to have 2 litters totalling 10 pups, all healthy and in happy homes
Her daughter had her litter 2 weeks ago 5 healthy pups I would never put a bitch in pup without vaccinating for canine herpes, it seems to be in short supply at the moment so worth ringing around
