Well I'm finally taking the financial jump, rather than going treeless I'm going for a fitted saddle.
I have Stirlingshire Saddlery (hopefully) coming out next Friday! I have never had a saddle fitted to my boy or watched a full fitting being done.:eek:
What happens.... ?!
I think it's Alene coming out to fit a saddle to him, she asked a few questions, what type of saddle, budget, width.
I want WH/VSD style, brown, leather and my budget is around £500 but is flexible (width I wasn't sure so I went for the 9-10" mark)
Am I being to picky? :confused:

Just no idea to be honest.. absolutely none- what goes on, do you get the saddle that day, do you pay cash?
Bewildered. :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thanking you all!! (doesn't have to be Stirlingshire.. any saddlery fitting experiences please!:D)

Aileen will bring a selection of saddles with her so if there is one that fits you will be able to get it that day. she is good and really nice. I am not sure if it has to be cash, i think you will be able to call the shop and pay by card possibly, might be an idea to call and ask before she comes. I don't think you are being picky, it makes it easier for her to sort out the right type of saddles to bring with her. good luck x

Having used both Alene and Louise for fitting my horse with both 2nd hand and new saddles i can highly recommend them, basically what will happen is she will try a few saddles on your horse ungirthed and see what they look like, she will then girth them up and if she is still happy with them she will ask you to have a sit on the saddle to check that it isnt causing any pressure and then will ask to see you riding in walk trot and canter
no you dont seem to be picky at all, i have known customers that Alene and Louise fit saddles for to have alot more specifications on what type of saddle they want even down to the colour of the stitching!
If she has a saddle that you want to buy she will usually leave it with you for a week to let you decide if it is the right saddle for you and she will leave you with an invoice
If you decide to keep the saddle, payment is by cheque or cash if it is a 2nd hand saddle as they sell them on behalf of customers, and the commision and fitting fee can be paid by card either over the phone or by going into the shop
If you decide not to take the saddle its the case of returning it to the shop and paying for the fitting fee, both Alene and Louise are lovely to deal with, I wouldnt get my horses saddle fitted or checked by anyone else, god knows what im going to do when i move to wales in september. Sorry for the really long post!
