I am having to give in and buy new stirrup leathers. This pair were cheap at 20 quid and I've paid for it as they are stretched and the holes are now all uneven. Buy cheap buy twice springs to mind. They also look fairly naff.

What do you recommend?

Passier leathers are fabulous. Soo soft and non-stretch. I don't know how much they are as saddler threw them in for 'free' when I bought new saddle.

Taken from 26/5/13 thread on same subject.

Thanks NicNac. They aren't outrageously priced at £40 a set on eBay. Now the question is. Do I buy a set for the GP and the Dressage saddle or keep swapping them over....?.:eek:

Ooooh just saw your last bit. Apols. I didn't do a search :(

Consider this closed Ladies, I shall conduct a search!

My leathers are GFS, they came with my old pony 4 years ago and were old then and still going strong, not stretched at all. There is the danger because they are old they are not made the same anymore but thought I'd let you know anyway :) never had to buy new

I have stubben ones, they're triple stitched, really thick and really sturdy! Need a good oil and a few cleans before use to soften the leather, but I can really recommend them :)

Depends on what you are after - I have the GFS ones with webbing core and soft leather outlets with curved buckles, but they are quite thick and I struggle with them on certain saddles. Otherwise I use wintec slimline synthetic ones which are really thin but strong and are my favourites on synthetic saddles - I would guess Bates will do leather versions?

I have bates ones. The calfskin looks less shiny in places than when new but they do not stretch (I have Sprenger stirrups so never swap them as they are marked L/R). I need a new pair for my jumping saddle and I'm going for bates again or amerigo. I reckon you need to spend about £70 but it is WELL worth it to have equal legs!
