Looking at getting some new stirrups, left leg is fine, right leg well I’ve had 14 ops on it so you can imagine.

I have heard alot of people say flex on stirrups are good

Any one used then?
Yay? Neigh?

any other brands/styles you recommend?

I ride in Sprenger - straight ones not the bow balance nor needing fancy leathers. I do this because they absorb some of the impact and our RI who uses them herself, was worried that hacking twice a week and cantering would stress my elderly joints.
I have one pair for winter and one pair for summer to allow for the bigger winter boots and have suffered no joint aches and pains and have never lost a stirrup either.
I have never taken my Sprengers to a riding lesson but I take them anywhere I am going to hack. However, I tend to be conservative and traditional when it comes to tack and it could well be that modern stirrups are now better than my old favourites.

Flex-ons are great! I think you can try before you buy now, so well worth trying. You don't notice anything different when you are riding, but when you stop it doesn't hurt :D

I have tried various stirrups guaranteed to help ones aching joints. So much Hocum.None of them worked. I put this down to the possibility that I can ride. I dont put a lot of pressure onto the stirrup ,mostly it is a sort of passive grip between saddle and leg (was going to say thigh but i,m not sure which bit is the thigh lol) On a horse I feel fine ,no pain , once I get off I am crippled. Still it means I can still do the important things.Ps I am crippled even if I dont ride ,so riding is great>

Mostly preferences vary hugely, borrow if you can. I would say definitely get ones where the slot sits front to back instead of side by side, much better on the knees and ankles. I will also say that you'd also benefit hugely from an off-horse rider conditioning programme, I recommend Rider Reboot especially where there's a definite pain/asymmetry issue like this but there are quite a few these days.
