Stock or no stock? Help!

I wore a stock with a shirt like that when I did dressage. It was a cream one, not pre tied. IMO the pre tied ones never look as good. What are you doing?

I'm nowhere near coordinated enough to tie my own stock! haha! It's the Intro B test, only an unaffiliated competition at my yard, but it's the first time I've been in a position to compete in something that wasn't the odd hunter trials. Plus my boy is only 4 so just about getting some experience really.

I’ve never used anything other than a ready tied stock. Don’t need the extra stress of tying one at a competition. The judges are not judging your stock!

I have a shirt like that, I normally wear it with a self tied stock. They are easy to tie, I can't tie a normal tie but can reliably make a stock look decent.

I have worn it with a black jacket just with the continental collar too though, fine for SJ (lots of people wear these or bibs for sj) or dressage (though most people wear a stock or tie for dressage).

With a tweed I would always wear a tie or stock.

Its a "fake stock" shirt. You can get away with it as it stands. If you unbutton the collar section it will reveal the button you need for a proper stock. (Whereupon you will loose the collar section...). If you want to use a pre tie it will go over the top - but the likelihood it will shift and not look as good. But as a previous poster said in dressage they are not judging your stock. If you were showing that would be different.

You don't need a stock with an american stlye shirt (SJ Style/high collar) most people for dressage/BD DO wear stocks but you don't have to.

I loathe the pre-tied ones as they look flat and I can never get them to sit right, so I only wear stocks for special occasions such as regionals etc. The rest of the time just my shirt, never had a problem affliliated or unaffiliated.

I think that a stock always looks smart and completes the look. I wouldn't be too worried for an unaff intro with this kind of shirt, however, as other posters have said; they will not be looking at your stock/lack of one.

Honestly, I've gone around an affiliated test at BD with my horse's tail still plaited! I was mortified when I realised, but the judge didn't say anything.

I always wear a stock - ready-tied. I can't be bothered with self-tie, just another stress :D the only thing I dislike is that my hairnet often gets caught in the velcro at the back which is annoying. But it always looks very smart and never looks flat :)

Good luck with your competition!
