Stockholm tar

Does anyone use Stockholm Tar ? Is it for daily use or just for problem hooves ?

I know many people frown on it nowadays, but I have found it very useful for wet conditions - the thin spray on stuff, and I still use the thivck tinnrd dtuff on abcesses once they get past the raining stage.

I found the spray on version really effective for keeping a box rested horse's soles and frogs healthy.
It also smells good!

I use the tinned stuff to paint on Old Dobbin's frogs when the Field Paste no longer clears thrush. Alternating the two seems to keep on top of it.

I haven't used it in years, as there are more modern products that seem to work better. But the smell! Add that to the smell of glycerin saddle soap, and proper English leather and it takes me back to being a little, pony-mad girl at the riding school.

I've heard of molasses for coughs, but not Stockholm tar!

I used to use the hoof oil with it in in the winter to keep mud off the hooves - used to put it on before hunting too.
