stocks vs ties

Hi all silly question but are women allowed to wear ties in eventing? obviuosly you would wear a stock for the dressage phase but for show jumping would a women be allowed to wear a tie??

You could wear a shirt and tie for dressage and showjumping below a certain level, I think intermediate. I don’t think I’d bother changing in between if I was wearing a stock for dressage.

Yes, no different from wearing for showing classes which is allowed also. Ive worn a tie for BE many times, although generally I use a stock and shirt for the dressage as I then take the stock off for the show jumping and compete just with the stock shirt zipped right up (as if I was going pure showjumping).

Eventing the convention was always tweed at BE Nov and below, dark jackets BE Int and above. With tweed a tie or a coloured (never white) stock is correct, male or female. I always wore a shirt and tie. That applies to dressage and SJ. However these days anything seems to go. Maybe not a bad thing if the sport is trying to throw off some of the shackles of tradition!
