Whilst in hospital my partner falsely surrendered my dogs to a rescue she was under immense pressure at the time and felt was doing the right thing . I am the registered kennel club owner, pet insurance and have receipts from dog food supplier that I fed them .if I report dogs stolen to police do the rescue have duty to return dogs .

Have you been in touch with the rescue itself....if you know who they are? The police may or may not act. Some forces are better than others in taking dog theft seriously. If you know where they are, there might not be a problem. Are they microchipped to you? If so, they should get in touch with you to make sure that the surrender was what you wanted. Wishing you good luck.

The dogs weren’t stolen, though. Your partner voluntarily handed them over during a period of stress. I agree that the best thing is to contact the rescue and to explain your position to them, it will be better if they are on side than if you are fighting them.

How long ago did this happen?

I do recall reading about a very similar situation which has been posted on the forum before.... it might be worth seeing if you can do a search for the details? I can’t remember how it ended unfortunately

Do you know which rescue and if the dogs are still there? First move is a conversation with the rescue, vet bills and microchip info in hand.
