I have been reading all the postings on the forum, although I can see that there is much speculation about who, when and how my sister's horse was stolen late Friday night to early Sat morning from her field in Bollington Cheshire. I think we have to face facts this is becoming more of a problem, I have been visiting websites since yesterday to ask for help in finding Darci who is a 15.3h bay mare with a scar on the top of her front right leg and a white blaze on her forehead and trust me quite a lot of loved friends have been going missing. She has been reported to the Police, but as the norm in these cases they will not attend as there are no lines of enquiry. Please take a step back and maybe tell your friends to be extra vigilant. Thanks Sue

Have you any piccies of her.

I'm not too far from Holmfirth, not sure if they have had a horse sale this week already but if they are having one in next few days I'll go and have a look so piccies helpful if you have them. You can PM them if you want cos then it might be easier to print them off?

I'll also post piccies at local tack shops and yards for you.

Fingers crossed you find her .

Out of interest, in what circumstances was Darcy found? Was she stolen and recovered somehow? I live quite nearby and am getting increasingly worried particularly as my horses are in a paddock close to a busy road.

This is a message I have been sent although not from Rachel who has only had time to confirm so far that Darci has been returned.

"She was stolen by someone who used to livery at the same yard but then moved to new yard a few miles away. He knew the horse and the owner and stole darcy for his daughter! He shaved her main and tail off and she has lost a little weight, but other than that, thank god she is fine. Thankfully the farrier recognized her and called her owner."

Hi
Yes its TRUE, DARCI is home safe and well after her adventure. She was stolen and by people we knew which is the really scary bit, we are still trying to get our heads around it obviously can't say too much as the police are involved. She is safe and has been looked after not that is any consolation as too what they have put us through. Please everyone stay vigilant because there are theives out there, get them chipped and freezemarked, vary your routines and be aware of strangers. THANK YOU to everyone fo all their kind help, support and advise at least I got the happy ending and feel so lucky to be alive.

LOVE RACHEL AND DARCI XXXX

So pleased to her she is back home. But have to agree that the fact she was stolen by someone you knew is in some ways worse than her being stolen by a strange, if that makes sense. How on earth did he explain Darci's arrival to his daughter! Anyway, just so relieved this has a happy ending.

So glad you found her Rachel - I just wish we had spotted her earlier to save alot of heartache. I am still (like most of the yard) totally speechless and shocked at the whole thing.

It just makes us all so much more aware that any new horses arriving on any yard should be checked out and passports checked so that this kind of thing doesnt happen again.

Fingers crossed that the Police actually do something about it!!!!
