Sorry, just one other "have you ever" question from me tonight: wondered if anyone had ever had a horse stolen, but managed to get it back? And if so, how?

Not happened to me but this would be my worst nightmare, but I have done everything in my power to try and prevent this from happening - microchipped and freezemarked (on the shoulder).

I had a pony stolen on loan years ago, I managed to find her through someone seeing my stolen advert on the net - pony had nearly ended u at meatman :-( luckily a nice family had bought her so decided to let them keep her rather than upset them, I think the stolen ad is still on a website somewhere but I was just glad the pony was ok! I had police involved so dont think would have been a problem to get her back but think its harder these days - saw a post from someone whose horse was stolen on loan and took about a year to get him back!! Some problem with scottish law!

Yep, I had my horse (and someone elses pony) stolen years ago - the 3rd horse had bolted from the stable and jumped the fence into the turnout field with a rug half put on!
Luckily, after searching frantically for hours, me and the other owner stumbled across them in a field after getting lost! My poor lad had 2 rugs put on (one over his neck to cover his freezemark).
She called her horse who came running - I called my lad and he shot off in the other direction!! lol
Apparently some people living in the houses near the field where they were found, had disturbed some people reversing a horsebox down the lane, because it was private
Anyway, apart from the horse that was bolted, who cut her leg quite badly, mine and the other horse were unhurt
Cant begin to explain how sick you feel when you realise they have gone, but the overwhelming relief when found is just amazing - I can still remember it like it happened yesterday!

Yes, my horse Toby was stolen from his field - it will be 4 years ago in June. I went to check on him on the thursday evening, gave him a pat and a cuddle and Ive not seen him since.
He is microchipped - but not freezemarked - i so regret that! It was a choice ive regretted daily since he was taken.
There were other horses in the field, but he was targetted I believe because he was coloured and the others werent.
I will never stop looking for him, he has been on tv, radio, horsemags, farrier mags, fliers, posters and forums - but he hasnt been found yet.
One day he will come home I am sure.
