The Sunday World ran a piece about this, apparently a group of Travellers came along and asked the owner if they could buy the mare and she said "no".
While on the yard they took a shine to the owner's lurcher, who was making a fuss and barking, then asked to buy her, the owner said OK.
They came back a few nights later for the mare - "burglar alarm" now deactivated.
The mare is called Gypsy Queen and is in foal, apparently.

Was trying to copy something over from their website but they don't seem to put a lot of their stories online.
Was a big cobby type with a long mane/forelock, distinctively marked piebald, mostly white with a big black mark on her face. The reporter said it was a rare breed but I would be no expert on that - and he didn't mention which.
Apparently owner's hubby is going up and down the country putting the word out.
Bloody sneaky!

what breed was she? have you got a piccy of her?

will check all the pcs to see if they have seen her.

*ohhh just thought, a new colored horse has appeared at the stonebridge roundabout on the portadown road (heading into porty from armagh) its in the field on the left just as you get off the roundabout...
cant remember its markings, but it was coloured! otherwise you may have to check with cavan and goresbridge that they dont sell a horse of that discription.

my friends mare was stolen a year ago, you may remember her, from tandragee, pony was called tizzy, was a chestnut mare and was NOT a novice pony, as was used for games and sjai. mare found 6 months later at one of millbrooks jumping nights when orignal owner happended to be there, pony was being ridden by some numpty who hadnt realsied that she was stolen!!
