Well, she's certainly very distinctively patterned, hopefully she'll be seen and returned.

Do the Port Authorities have 'stolen' registers or make any inspection of horses being shipped between the UK and the rest of Europe?

I think that this is something that, if not in place, which I don't think it is, should be addressed at Government level, having inspection of horses being shipped.

Hope the mare is found and returned home.

Sadly this mare has been found dead close to home--in an open meadow area well searched.
A post mortem has been ordered as the owners are suspicious it did not die of natural causes.

Bummer. Poor owners.

However, they DO now know where she is, and aren't going to spend the next 20 years wondering and checking every field they see for her.

I had a TB stolen (loaner up and vanished with SIX horses) years ago, I never found out what happened and always wondered. 30 years later, I STILL take a second look at photos of chestnuts with blazes - that would be every second one then

I just wish I knew what became of him.
