I received this email today:

Please could everybody keep an eye open for some Shetland ponies that were stolen on Saturday evening around 8pm from Horsepath Wheatly Oxon.
They are 4 registered Shetland mares, they were removed out from their stables and taken away through a neighbours field, the local Oxford police are the ones to be contacted with any information.

eewww, Shotover park, thats a lady I think I know who our ponies are related to somehow.....god I hopes she finds them. Am I correct in thinking/reading that these ponies were in stables when stolen? Are there any other pony sales this week? - maybe they have not gone to the obvious Reading?

Hope these little ones are found SOON.

Stow fair is Oct 24th. The people who own them ought to try and get in touch with David Collings from Hampshire police, he has a team who will be actively searching these venues, looking through their photos of stolen horses and ponies.

Also with any stolen horse or pony it is essential to get their pictures and details as far and wide as possible.
Dont rely on horsewatch or www.stolenhorseregister.com

Get their details in any tack shops, riding schools, livery yards, farriers etc - you wont find them with the theives but you might find them with the people they've been sold on to.

It is very easy for anyone to obtain a passport. Some sales even have their own passport issuing office! I would contact all the sales giving detailed descriptions of the ponies so another identical passport cannot be issued.
When our pony was stolen we contacted every passport issuing office and sent them details and photos to try and stop another passport being issued.
We found most staff at the sales very helpful, some even went out themselves looking.
