Last night our tack room on our lovely quiet livery yard was emptied!

They took all of the saddles and bridles, plus an Ifor Williams trailer to load the stuff into. I will get a complete list later, but for now, please keep your eyes open for two more unusual items:

Black Balance Dressage Saddle
Nexus model 17.5"
Made by John Hamilton
VERY VERY WIDE
Short girth straps
Double hook style stirrup bars
(stolen with matching Balance saddle cover)

Parelli Bareback Pad
Black suede
Brown leather latigo straps
(stolen with grey wool girth)

I am willing to offer a £400 reward for the return of these two items, no questions asked. The saddle is very unusual and distinctive.

To add to the list is a pro VSD saddle that has an extra girth strap on the left side. This saddle also had Sprenger stirrups.
A general purpose saddle with no makers name.
Both of these were 17" wide fitting.
A sabre brown leather bridle with flash noseband and french link loose ring snaffle, and rubber reins one of which was worn through.
Also taken was a set of western tack, quite old but serviceable and in good condition.
Please think twice before buying second hand tack at sales, the chances of it being stolen are possible.

I'm very sad to hear your news. It must be very upsetting for you all.

They must be doing that area then, there's a notice in the Welland Valley Feeds letter on their website saying there has been thefts in the Market Harborough area.

There was a theft of 40 odd rugs i think or something like that in Lubenham over the last week also? Know there was a theft at a yard at medbourne i dont know if thats were yours was stolen from.

Plus i would check out on W.V.F there is an advert for an xmas sale of second hand rugs, tack etc in december at lubenham hall? May be worth checking them out as i wouldn't put it past these certain type if its who i think it is organising it as they are dodgy anyway.

Yes we are at Medbourne.
It was only saddles and bridles that were taken, the trailer was used for transporting the goods.
I still feel very angry, particularly as we are all working taxpaying owners who work hard to finance our horses and yet these lowlifes can just help themselves to our hardearned kit.
We did everything right regarding security, but it seems they can get round any obstacle.
What do we have to do to keep safe?

Unfortunately thieving scum seem to think it's okay to steal what we work for. Makes me so angry.

A timely reminder to get tack postcoded or datatagged and mark all rugs with fluorescent or gloss paint. Not nice defacing your own property but far better than it being nicked.

It's horrible to think that these low lives have clearly been snooping around beforehand too. When a place we were at was burgled we just knew they had to have "cased the joint" because of the location and what they took.
